Mike Jansen, PGA Head Golf Professional
Mike brings 15 years of experience in the golfing business and has worked in all aspects of golf operations. He has spent the last 13 years at Spyglass Hill GC, a Pebble Beach property, with his most recent title being 1st Assistant Golf Professional. Mike has been a Class A PGA Professional for the last 3 years. He enjoys the excitement of a tournament day, the smile created during a lesson, and hopes to bring his years of experience and knowledge in a world class customer service environment to San Juan Oaks.
Mike is a graduate of Fresno State University and lives in Salinas with his wife Molly, and children Annalise and Henry. Outside of work he enjoys golfing with friends, attending sporting events, landscaping, and time outdoors.
Denton Scott, PGA Assistant Golf Professional
Denton has been a member of the San Juan Oaks Staff since 2017 as an Assistant Golf Professional but don’t let his title fool you. Denton has more then 35 years experience in the golf business including roles as General Manager & Head Golf Professional to name a few. As far as teaching goes, Denton has worked with all different levels of players, from beginners all the way up to tour professionals. Denton himself played on the tour with players such as Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. Denton is originally from Mississippi but now resides in San Juan Bautista with his wife Suzanne. Denton is a lifetime PGA member.
Manny Freitas, General Manager
Manny has been a part of the San Juan Oaks team since its inception in 1996. He has held numerous positions with the club such as Assistant Golf Professional, Tournament Director, Director of Marketing, and Assistant General Manager, Director of Golf and is currently the General Manager of the Club
Although he focuses on many different aspects of the operation at San Juan Oaks, he really enjoys coaching and working with people to achieve new levels enjoyment and awareness in their own game. Manny has played competitively as a junior all the way though to college, but now gets more enjoyment from playing with members and friends. Manny has a unique way of sharing his own experiences in the game to his students. Sometimes students end up taking more with them after a session then just awareness to golf. Manny has written articles for publications such as Out & About Magazine and The San Juan Star.
Manny enjoys working with golfers of all skill levels and especially juniors to help grow the game. Manny’s goal is to generate excitement and joy to everyone who plays the game. Manny was a long time resident of San Juan Bautista and now currently lives in Hollister.
