Found Treasure: McCann’s and 36° North
We’ve officially arrived—and we’re honored. A huge thank you to Mark C. Anderson and Edible Monterey Bay for the thoughtful, in-depth feature on San Juan Oaks. From our two exciting new dining destinations to the reimagined golf course, it’s a beautiful spotlight on what makes this new chapter so special.
The first reveal: Word that freshly overhauled and reopened San Juan Oaks Golf Club, on the rural outskirts of Hollister, has a tidy food and beverage operation humming along, with the fanciest restaurant in San Benito County, 36° North, leading the way. The revelations kept coming from there, ultimately resulting in a memorable lunch at McCann’s—36°’s more casual bar-and-grill sister.
Director of Food & Beverage James Kellogg gave me the rundown, with an earnestness befitting a longtime hospitality pro who helped open Tehama Golf Club, partly owned the late great Fresh Cream in Monterey and also spent time at MPCC and Pebble Beach’s Beach and Tennis Club.
“It’s a total reimagining of the whole property,” he says. “A planned-out project involving a lot of time and a lot of capital.”
