San Juan Oaks Named U.S. Amateur Qualifying Site

Exciting news for the Central Coast golf community—San Juan Oaks Golf Club has been selected by the United States Golf Association (USGA) as an official qualifying site for the 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship, set to take place this August at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. The qualifying event will be held at San Juan Oaks on Tuesday, June 24th, bringing top amateur players from across the region to compete on one of Northern California’s most celebrated courses.

San Juan Oaks is one of just 45 host sites across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and this honor marks a major milestone for the club, recognizing the incredible course enhancements and growing national recognition it has earned in recent years.

Championship-Caliber Golf in the Heart of Hollister

Designed by PGA legend Fred Couples and award-winning architect Gene Bates, San Juan Oaks offers a course that balances challenge and playability. With strategic bunkering, rolling elevation and immaculately maintained greens, the course presents a true test of skill—something top amateur and professional players have come to appreciate.

“We’re honored to welcome the USGA and the U.S. Amateur to San Juan Oaks,” said Manny Freitas, General Manager of San Juan Oaks Golf Club. “This is a proud moment for our entire team and a testament to the tremendous work that has gone into elevating this course. From our firmer, faster greens to the reshaped bunkering, every update has been intentional—designed to test every aspect of a player’s game while still delivering a rewarding experience.”

A Complete Golf Destination

The course improvements are just part of the story. The broader reimagining of San Juan Oaks includes enhanced guest amenities and new places to gather, dine and relax.

Proudly Representing Northern California

Located just outside San Juan Bautista in the hills of Hollister, San Juan Oaks continues to grow its reputation as one of the top golf destinations in Northern California. With its selection as a U.S. Amateur qualifying site, the club joins an elite roster of nationally recognized venues—and cements its role in shaping the future of competitive golf.
