Our Story
San Juan Oaks sits in the rolling foothills east of Monterey Bay, just minutes from historic San Juan Bautista. Originally designed by World Golf Hall of Famer Fred Couples with architect Gene Bates, the course opened in 1996. With the help of Bates, the course was thoughtfully reimagined over a two-and-a-half-year renovation.
The course & clubhouse reopened for play in late 2024, restoring it back to its original beauty while modernizing playability, conditioning, and guest experience. San Juan Oaks blends course strategy and challenge with fun for players of all skill levels. The refresh brought updated bunkering, surfaces, and infrastructure to match today’s game while honoring the original intent.
Today’s San Juan Oaks
Beyond the course, the clubhouse and hospitality have been renewed to create a day-trip-worthy golf and dining destination for players, families, and local food lovers alike. On property you’ll find:
- 36 Degrees North – an elevated dining experience with reservations recommended. Open Thursday-Saturday evenings
- McCann’s – the clubhouse bar & grill offering refreshing cocktails, cold beers, and classic bites.
